Description of Service:

Quest Support Services Inc. provides the following services within the Southern Alberta Community:
  • Community Access Supports Program
  • Supported Homes
  • Group Home Living
  • Geriatric Care and Supports
  • Rural Supports
  • In and Out of Home Respite
  • Behavioural Supports
  • Children’s Services: Residential, Respite, Outreach, and Summer Programs
Many of the individuals we support have varying levels of abilities; the teaching strategies used for each of these activities will be individualized to suit each individual's particular strengths and needs. Furthermore, it is up to the individual and the individual's Core Team to decide exactly which of these activities he/she will benefit from and participate in.

Many of the individuals we support may express the desire to acquire the skills and qualifications to contribute both economically and socially to the community. Therefore, we also provide volunteer placements, work experience and a modified employment placement for those individuals whose goal is to become employed among the mainstream of society.

Ideally, we would like to see many of the individuals we support use our program as a transitional process, to acquire all of the training necessary to lead them into the vocational arena. However, we also appreciate that for some individuals, employment may not be the logical outcome of connecting their strengths, needs, and aspirations.

We believe each individual has the potential to benefit from meaningful training programs. Quest Supports Services Inc. is committed to being flexible and responsive to each individual's needs and we intend to provide meaningful training opportunities that exist in society.

We think it is imperative to continually monitor, evaluate and improve our existing service. Therefore, we are always willing to experiment with new activities and new ideas.

Residential Services:

Quest Supports Services Inc. provides residential support services to those individuals in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, group living, tenant support, private homes and various forms of respite.

Hours of services are based on individual need and may range from, but not limited to, a few hours per day to 24-hour supports. Services provided to individuals include all aspects of personal care, medical services as required, emotional/psychological support, menu planning/preparation, money management, accessing appropriate/required community services, development of communication skills, informal counselling and behavioural support.

Creating a home especially designed to serve individuals with challenging behaviours allows these individuals a better chance of success in a community setting. Their unique needs can be met through individual programs that can be implemented and carried out by training staff. Program consistency will reduce incidents of displayed behaviours thereby opening up more opportunities and participation in community living.

Community Access Program:

Quest Support Services Inc. is a community-based developmental program. We try to access all "regular" facilities and programs because we believe interaction depends, not on the features of any single service, but on the overall pattern of an individual's interaction within the community.

Quest Children’s Services:

Quest Support Services Inc. currently supports children, under the age of 18, that have a disability. Family Supports for Children with a Disability (FSCD), formally known as Resources for Children with a Disability (RCD), is the organization which funds a majority of the children enrolled in Quest Services. FSCD provides financial support to assist families with some of the extraordinary demands resulting from having a child with a disability. Southwest Alberta Child and Family Services is also a funding provider for children receiving Intervention Services. Referrals are made to our Agency by this government organization in situation whereby foster families require respite and also when the Ministry has guardianship of a child that requires Quest services. There are various types of services Quest offers children such as Outreach Services, Residential Services, Respite Services and Summer Programs.
